Testing Principle
The W201 2.0 WVTR Tester operates on the electrolytic method principle. A pre-treated sample is clamped between two test chambers, dividing the system into a high-humidity side and a low-humidity side. Humidified nitrogen flows on one side of the film, while dry nitrogen (carrier gas) flows at a constant rate on the other. Driven by the humidity gradient, water vapor permeates from the high-humidity side to the low-humidity side. The transmitted water vapor is carried by the flowing dry nitrogen to an electrolytic sensor, and parameters such as the sample’s WVTR are derived from the electrical signal output by the sensor.
