AUTO GBDA-180 The Compost Degradation Tester is based on the gravimetric method for measuring carbon dioxide emissions. It is a professional use of small reactors to determine the final biodegradability of test materials. It is suitable for the biodegradability analysis of degradable plastics and bio-based materials such as lunch box garbage, waste ground film, plastics containing plasticizers and pigment additives, etc.

Testing Principle

The test material of this method is a mixture of inoculum of decomposed compost and inert materials (such as sea sand and vermiculite). By controlling the humidity, oxygen permeability and temperature of the compost container, the sample to be analyzed in the reaction chamber is under the action of microorganisms. The biodegradation reaction is carried out through respiration, and oxygen becomes carbon dioxide and is discharged through respiration. The amount of carbon dioxide released is measured by weighing the absorption device equipped with soda lime and sodium talc, and the decomposition rate is calculated by regular measurement.

Result validity analysis

  • The software contains a result validity judgment module, which can display the biodegradation rate of the reference material after 45 days, the carbon dioxide (mg) produced by the blank container within 10 days before the experiment (mg)/the volatile solids of the inoculum (g), and the biodegradation rate of 18 channels Relative deviation.
  • The report template contains parameters such as the average carbon dioxide value of the blank group, theoretical carbon dioxide, generated carbon dioxide, biological decomposition rate, relative decomposition rate and time.
